The same cautious warning should go out to Matiangi. History has a funny way of repeating itself.

RE: An Open Letter and Appeal to Jubilee's Sec-Gen Raphael Tuju
Bw. Tuju,
I don’t know much about you other than what I continue to read – in the various local dailies – and hear on TV when they are allowed to broadcast.
While I appreciate, indeed respect your efforts at feeding your family, I will say that losing your soul along the way diminishes your very being but even more importantly, it exposes you to the treachery of the very people paying you, oftentimes handsomely, for your soul and complete acquiescence.
Raphael, once these people have it, your soul that is, dressed up as loyalty and "patriotism, you are finished.
Irumo!!
Let me also say this from the get-go:
I do not think much of your boss’s views or his visions for Kenya – however eloquently and elegantly you (continue to) articulate said views and visions.
I heard you, in your role as the regime’s (Jubilee’s) Secretary-General, make comments on BBC-Africa that spoke to your uniquely Goebbels-esque-like qualities; a latter day Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf if you may.
http://www.bbc.com/…/raphael-tuju-kenya-is-not-a-nation-sta…
I am sure you, an astute student of history, know who Joseph Goebbels was/is.
Paul Joseph Goebbels was Adolf Hitler’s Minister of Propaganda beginning 1933 to 1945. He was a close associate of Hitler and renowned for his public speaking skills and virulent support of the Third Reich.
Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf was Saddam Hussein’s Minister for Information who insisted that all was well even as American bombs were raining down on Baghdad – all within earshot!
Raphael, for a man serving two former crimes-against-humanity suspects – Uhuru and Ruto – to assert that “it is a miracle that Kenya has survived for over 50years without a ‘major’ breakdown of law and order” is not only laughable, it is absolutely mendacious and speaks to your impressive impersonation of Goebbels.
Earth to Tuju:
Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto were brought in front of The Hague BECAUSE they were accused of precipitating Kenya’s worst breakdown of law and order – the former targeting your own Luo community!
You do remember the break-down of law and order that followed the post-election violence of 2007 and 2008 don't you?
And just to be clear, your two bosses escaped conviction NOT because they were innocent, but because they, along with supporters and toadies such as yourself, executed, literally and metaphorically, widespread acts of obstruction of justice, bribery and outright witness intimidation.
Additionally, the idea that the Kenyan media is an “extension of the opposition party” and that its judiciary makes decisions based on “tribal affiliation” would be a travesty were the same dynamics NOT the calling card of the ultimate symbol of national unity – the executive.
Ralph, use of the media and other branches of government including the deputization of the “business community” to act as a mouthpiece and as militia on behalf of the executive has been perfected by your boss and his party.
Your boss’s executive branch is, like the media and the judiciary you excoriate, an institution whose decision-making is driven by craven ethnic considerations – pure and simple.
That you fail to see that and proceed on to ingratiate yourself towards a government that has a history of using and discarding those from other communities outside the duopoly’s is worrisome.
A word of caution to you Bw. Tuju; and allow me to dispense with the decorum and cut to the chase:
You are shamelessly sucking up to a government headed by two individuals mentored by one Daniel Arap Moi.
The head of your party Jubilee is an offspring of Kenya’s first president Jomo.
Since you have demonstrated an equally shameless and pathological ability to create a reality that aligns with your party’s history and reality, let me offer an alternative interpretation of said history and reality – involving those from your community who have served the two men – Jomo and Moi – in said capacity i.e. as their eloquent spokesman AND as their foil against their very own community’s self-interests. aqua blue bridesmaid dresses
When it came to articulating the record on governance and on human/civil rights of the Moi regime, Robert Ouko was that face and that voice.
As previously written, Ouko’s last act of loyalty was facing and explaining the meaning of “Nyayo” to a relentless and merciless Washington DC press corps unimpressed by his boss’s meandering and incoherent obfuscation at doing just that. (The Politics of Betrayal: Dairy of a Kenyan Legislator by Joe Khamisi).

We all know what happened to the former Minister of Foreign Affairs – for all his loyalty to Arap Moi.
Raphael if I may, before Robert Ouko was yet another man – also from the Lake Region whose loyalty was not reciprocated – this time by Jomo Kenyatta.
Tom Mboya was an organizer and a mobilizer extraordinaire. He was also seen as an ambitious threat and possible successor to your boss’ father Jomo.
At the risk of a backlash from adherents of the mythical “tribeless Kenya” the supposedly pro-opposition media parroted last elections, let me say that Tom Mboya, even back in the 60s, was the prototypical Luo male.
The man had swag and the gift of gab that no one could deny.
His clarity of thought and of articulation was equally undeniable.

Similarly, Mboya’s last act loyalty was speaking out against the now demonstrably tribal Kenya that his boss Jomo and those around him were hell-bent on solidifying/formalizing via allocation/distribution of “matunda ya uhuru”.
Call him ambitious and scheming as I have heard many people call him but Tom's vision of Kenya was relatively atribal and more geared towards nation-building and less towards the unlimited/zero-sum personal enrichment ethos perfected by your boss's father and exacerbated since by your very bosses!
Unfortunately, in so doing, Mboya distanced, alienated himself if you may, from (the “psychological” safety net/support structure afforded by) his Luo community.
Untethered to his community, the young trade unionist made himself vulnerable to those afraid of taking him head-on in an open, fair and transparent competition for the top office – now emboldened by Mboya’s rift with Jaramogi.
We all know what happened to the former Minister for Economic Planning and Development.
WuodTuju, let me leave you with this final thought:
While I am sure that you believe in your role verbalizing your boss’ vision, I’d ask you to open your mind to the annals of Kenya’s history – something I get the impression you have not done - knowingly or unknowingly.
Tang ahinya WuodMa...Tang.
